It always surprises me how little space is needed to create beautiful and meaningful family portraiture. I have written on my blog before about how my ideal location for a session isn't really about the location at all; it's about finding a simple space where love and light intersect. I shot this session in Kalamazoo, Michigan on the first week of fall. 99% of this session took place on this ordinary sidewalk where we skipped, twirled, laughed, and followed the light into a new season with another chapter in life documented.
