Hi, I’m Sarah.
I’m a documentary photographer based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Since 2013, I’ve photographed families, businesses, and organizations across the state — telling stories rooted in connection, integrity, and everyday life.
In a world where it’s increasingly hard to tell what’s real, I’m drawn to what’s honest. I offer gentle direction when it helps, but I’m always watching for the moments that unfold naturally — the ones that feel like you.
My background in advertising, marketing, and education shapes how I work. I understand how images function beyond the frame — on websites, in campaigns, annual reports, and grant proposals. I also know how to help people feel comfortable enough to be themselves in front of a camera.
With families, I document the rhythm of home — the chaos, the tenderness, the in-between moments that pass quickly and matter deeply.
With organizations, I create both single-session stories and long-term visual libraries. Past clients include Kalamazoo County Parks, the Michigan Department of Education’s 10 Cents a Meal program, and Taste the Local Difference. This work has taken me to farms, classrooms, trails, and communities across Michigan.
This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about presence.
And preserving what’s worth remembering.
