The Beauty of Change: A Decade of Connection | Kalamazoo Family Photographer

As a Kalamazoo family photographer, I have the privilege of photographing many of the same families year after year. I’ve been photographing this family for more than a decade, and what I love most is how their story quietly evolves.

This image is from our very first session in 2014—one of the photos that inspired me to focus on photographing connection over perfection.

Eleven years later, this quiet, in-between moment is a great reminder that although they aren't as snuggly as they once were, teenagers still lean in when you least expect it.

As a parent of a teenager, it’s easy to be pulled in every direction—the busy schedules, the shifting moods, the Facebook TimeHop reminders of the toddlers they once were.

…contrasted by the daily reminder of the young adults they’re becoming.

Parenting through this stage feels like a balancing act—holding on just enough while giving them space to explore.

They may roll their eyes one minute and sprint ahead the next—but somehow, it’s always beautiful to watch them find their way.

With you right behind them, letting them lead the way.

And yet, no matter how far they wander, family is what keeps them grounded—the inside jokes, the shared history, the quiet comfort of knowing they’ll always have each other.

If you’re looking for a Kalamazoo family photographer who values connection over perfection and believes in documenting the seasons of your story, I’d love to create something beautiful together.
