This fall, I had the joy of photographing families at the Arthur & Mildred Woollam Nature Preserve — one of the newest additions to Kalamazoo County Parks in partnership with the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy. This preserve was designed to invite families to slow down, explore, and connect with nature.

The session was part of my ongoing commercial photography work for Kalamazoo County Parks a collaboration that highlights how local families connect with nature through genuine, everyday moments.

We began our session on the trail that winds toward Bass Lake, where sunlight filters through golden leaves and the water reflects the trees in perfect symmetry.

From there, we met another park visitor — a local resident enjoying her walk with her golden retriever.

My work with Kalamazoo County Parks reflects what I love most about photography — capturing genuine moments of connection surrounded by Michigan’s natural beauty.
