I always say that it's the in between moments (the moments in between the set-ups) that tell the real story of who a family is. Capturing those in-between moments is what takes a session from good to great. It's the in between moments that tell your story. Nobody can recreate your expressions or your interactions just like you. The in between moments reveal your childrens' sideways glances, mischievous smirks, expressions of love and looks of wonder that you will remember in 15 years. Theses interactions and expressions are yours and they aren't going to be captured by saying "cheese". To get those moments, a family has to trust the process and to let go of their inhibitations and expectations for the perfect photo. They have to relax, relinquish control to me and let their kids go. And...when they do...their story will start to unfold. If this family looks familiar, it's because I have been photographing them since the beginning!
