Extended family photography sessions in Kalamazoo are some of the most meaningful galleries I get to create. They’re an opportunity to celebrate multiple generations, capture real connections, and tell a layered story in one beautiful evening.

Earlier on the blog, I shared 6 types of photographs you can expect in an extended family session. This new post takes that a step further—offering a peek at what a full gallery actually looks like and why each image matters. You’ll notice that I often include series of similar shots, so families can choose their favorite expressions and moments—because even subtle differences can feel deeply personal.
Full Gallery (157 photos) - Accessible by all family members for download and printing

Now that you’ve seen the full gallery view, I’m breaking it down by section. Each section includes a screenshot showing how images are grouped in the gallery, followed by one of my personal photographer favorites from that same section.
Posed Group Photos: Standing & Seated
These are the anchor images of your gallery—the ones that often make it onto the holiday card or get framed in Grandma’s living room. We always capture both standing and seated versions to give variety and accommodate accessibility.

Individual Family Groupings + Siblings
Each nuclear family gets their own mini-session within the larger shoot. These photos are often the ones parents print for their own walls, and they’re a great way to make sure everyone feels seen and included.

Candid Interactions & Relationships
These are often the most treasured images—real moments of laughter, hugs, and connection that can’t be posed. Whether it’s a grandchild nestled into a grandparent’s lap or cousins giggling over something silly, these shots tell the heart of your family story.

Portraits of Each Child
I carve out time for a quick portrait of every child. These aren’t stiff school-style headshots—they’re relaxed, expressive, and reflect who your kids are right now, freckles and all.

Furry Friends (If Present!)

Pets are family too. If your dog (or cat, or chicken!) joins the session, they’ll absolutely have their moment in the spotlight. These make for sweet and often hilarious additions to your gallery.
Photographer Favorites: Color & Black & White
Each gallery includes a curated set of my personal favorites—often duplicated in both color and black and white. The black and white versions bring timeless emotion and texture to the frame, while color captures the warmth of the season and setting.

Why Book an Extended Family Photography Session in Kalamazoo
Extended family sessions are about more than just gathering for a picture—they’re about celebrating where you’ve come from, honoring your connections, and giving each generation a place in the frame. I treat these sessions with extra care because I know how important they are.
