When I pulled up to this family's house on an early morning in February, it was four degrees outside. Admittedly, I was nervous about having catatonic G.I. Joe hands from the artic temps and not being able to release the shutter on my camera. However, I was so excited to photograph this amazing family on their very own ice rink – a lifestyle session at it’s best. So, per usual, I relied on my photographer adrenaline and several cups of coffee. It turned out to be an absolutely perfect morning. We skated, played hockey, played the guitar and piano and drank hot chocolate. The sun even decided to make an appearance at our session (not a common sighting in Michigan during the winter). The diffused morning light reflected off of the ice, creating a natural reflector that highlighted the beautiful connections among this family and their everyday.
