Idyllic clouds greeted me as I arrived at the Michigan State University (MSU) Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Center (UPREC) in Chatham for my photography project focused on Michigan's 10 Cents a Meal Program. Established in 1899, UPREC has long been a hub for agricultural innovation and education in Michigan. The center focuses on research involving forage and field crops, including certified organic specialty crops. UPREC's staff extends their expertise beyond the center, collaborating with local schools, public agencies, agribusinesses, and producers across the state. Through off-site research and outreach, they address critical local needs in food, agriculture, and natural resources. I spent a lovely afternoon capturing images at the North Farm. Take a peek at some of the pictures below
Michigan's 10 Cents a Meal program is paving the road for a healthier future, connecting local farms to school cafeterias across our state.
