One of the greatest joys of my job as a family photographer is working with the same families over the years. I get to witness their growth, milestones, and changing interests as the years go by. But, it's not just my clients who have changed. I have also changed. My skills as a photographer have evolved since 2013, as have my equipment and editing skills. As they say, change is the only constant in life.
Despite the changes, there are consistent themes when you look back at eight years of images. As much as I favor colorful imagery and dreamy golden hour lighting, sometimes removing the color allows us to focus on what's timeless...for me, it's a desire to capture candid moments of human connection and for this family, it's a deep love that transcends time.
"Black and white photography erases time from the equation," James Paterson.
