Urban

Often times in summer, families desire to be photographed on the beach. They want to soak in the sun and capture the essence of the Great Lakes State. After these long harsh winters, I can't say I blame them. In addition to bordering four of the Great Lakes, Michigan also has 11,000 inland lakes and 36,000 miles of streams (fun fact: you are never more than 6 miles away from a stream when you are in the mitten state!). Although Michigan is famous for it's water, there is so much more character and dimension to Michigan than people realize. This state is full of cities, towns and villages that have a distinguished history and are the perfect backdrop for a family session. This month I have had some awesome opportunities to do both commercial work (stay tuned) and some family sessions in a city I love - Kalamazoo. My challenge in these sessions was to use the buildings, lighting and textures to highlight and frame this gorgeous family and their beautiful interactions. Take a peek.
