Through the Fog

Last Sunday I drove to South Haven for a multiple family photo shoot. There were 14 people (and one on the way). Confession: I was a little nervous when booking this session about getting a group shot with 14 people, 6 of whom were children...but I am always up for a challenge.

I went in with a solid plan and sequence to how the morning would flow on the beach. One problem: the beach. When I arrived in South Haven the beach was covered in dense fog and there was little /no visibility, reminicient of a Scooby Doo episode. This is how my face must of looked......

We were going to have to be flexible, a lesson that both parenthood and photography have taught me several times over. So, we moved to a park in town. It worked out beautifully. We found a flight of stairs that cut into the hillside below the fog. Rather than the fog being a hinderance to our morning and a backdrop for the Mystery Machine (Scooby Doo reference), it served as pretty framing. The overcast morning intensified the colors and resulted in even lighting.
