One of the things that I didn't anticipate learning as a family photographer is the different names of Michigan's wildflowers and when to expect them to bloom. Over the last five years, I have found myself choosing locations based on which wildflowers I can expect to see. I have learned that there is always something in bloom and there is always beauty to be found if you look closely enough. I think this is a great metaphor for life. After our babies learn to crawl and then walk, we often stop writing down or noticing their milestones and we become desensitized to our children's' constant change because we are with them 24/7. Like wildflowers, there is always growth and change in our families and certainly always something in bloom - whether that be a new tooth emerging, a new interest or a new expression. With the different seasons, comes change and with that change; beauty.
